Burns Club Member Honoured

Our honorary President for Life, Captain Angus MacDonald, was the guest of honour at a recent ceremony at Government House.

On February 19th, Captain Angus was presented with the Merchant Navy Medal for Meritorious Service.

Accompanied by his daughters Alison and Lindsay, Captain Angus received the award from the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia, The Honourable Arthur J. LeBlanc, ONS, QC.

The Merchant Navy Medal for Meritorious Service is a United Kingdom state honour. It was awarded to just 19 recipients in 2019.

The medal is given to select mariners who have served in the Merchant Navy and have shown particularly valuable devotion to duty and exemplary service so as to serve as an outstanding example to others.

Captain Angus' service included time as a port pilot in Ghana during the Second World War.
